Board-Certified Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician
Mark Harrington, DO, is a specialist in sports medicine. He is board-certified in Family Medicine with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine. He practices medical sports medicine and non-operative orthopedics full-time.
Dr. Harrington’s special interests encompass all aspects of sports medicine, among them acute and chronic injuries, sports-related concussion, injury prevention and rehabilitation. Additional interests include musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided procedures and diagnostics, as well as the use of orthobiologics to improve the healing of fractures, injured muscles, tendons and ligaments. He also performs ultrasound-guided percutaneous tenotomy.
Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Harrington earned a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and practiced as a high school and collegiate Athletic Trainer. He went on to earn his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at A.T. Still – Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri and completed his Family Medicine Residency at Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Harrington completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship (pediatric and adult) at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Harrington spent three years as an assistant team physician for the Cleveland Browns prior to returning to his home state of New Jersey. Currently, he practices full time at Ocean Orthopedic Associates as well as functions as the team physician for Kean University Athletics and is the MLS Venue Medical Director of Sports Illustrated Area with the NY Red Bulls.
